THe 96-98 GT's are no that bad...geeez! All you have to do is get the PI heads /intake from a newer GT and you're putting down higher numbers than a 99-04 GT. Then go crazy with your bolt-ons and FI etc. etc.

isn't that kinda pricey and/or alot of work?

why not just start with more power to begin with?

Dont buy a 96-98 GT thinking u could swap a cobra engine in it and u will be all set. Alot of guys on here said u cant do that cuz the electrical is different in the Cobra, and isnt worth the work.

Not really...if you get a set of used heads/intake and do the install yourself. It all depends if that is the body stlye he wants. Obviously it would be easier to get a 99-04 or Cobra, but it sounds like that isn't an option.

You could find a cheap 94-95 or 96-98 and steal a 94-95 K-member and do a 302 stroker or 351 swap...

You can get everything for less than $1,000 for the PI headswap... I saved more than that by buying a pre '99 on both purchase price and insurance.

the mach1 uses the old cobra engine... they had to do something with the old cobra engine when they started supercharging the 03-04 cobras. and so they did, they dumped it into the mach 1
