Default Bolt-ons or PI Swap

I have a 96 GT auto with 90k on her, I have a choice between the full works of bolt ons or a PI swap with possible cams. What would be the best move for my car, consider mileage, performance, reliability.

What would get me a lower 1/4 mile?? pi swap or 2700 worth of bolt ons

hopefully ill get alot of opinions

thanks for all your help

Def do the swap. Friend of mine had a full bolt on 5 speed '97 GT and had a hard time running mid 9's in the 1/8.

Definately go with the PI swap....that is the best mod for our cars. Especially if you have the money for it.

$1,800 will buy you brand new heads, VT cams, intake manifold, and all gaskets/random pieces...

Used heads + manifold + stock cams and it can be done for closer to $800 (parts only).

yes, its harder on the valvesprings but your rings will likely go out before your springs do with the stage 1's - stage 2's require new springs

most definately, probably low 13's with sticky tires.

cams are worth 20 - 30 rwhp, even a mild cam like VT stage 1's have been dyno proven to add 22-28 rwhp. Nice sounding idle, no long term negatives really - just a great cam that can be ran with the stock valve springs. Your choice though deciding whether its worth the $550 for cams.
