Default Clutch Question

I just got my GT a couple of days ago and I had a question about the clutch. On my old sixer, the clutch would engage at the top 3/4 when you're letting the clutch out. I could let the clutch halfway out, and it wouldnt even start sputtering. But in my GT, the clutch engages almost right off the floor, immediately. The second you move you're foot, it starts going. A guy I know said that the clutch is way out of adjustment if its doing that. He said no matter what, most clutches are supposed to engage around half-way when you let off on the pedal. The guy that sold it to me said its a performance clutch, he just didnt remember what kind. Would that have anything to do with it? What do you guys think?

Id like to know more about this too... on my 99 gt it doesnt seem to catch untill 1/2 -3/4 of the way out.. i didnt know if when a clutch wears it doesnt grab as soon or something? Wheres it soposed to grab? Seeing you have a aftermarket clutch, the person who installed it might not have it adjusted right or maybe thats how they wanted it to be?

Yeah, I got the same problem on my `00GT. The clutch starts to grab about 2 inches from the dash. When I pull up on the clutch pedal, nothing happens. The car just turned 40k miles.

That's normal for these cars. You can "cheat" the factory adjuster. Here's a link that might help.
