Default Motor Rebuild..Breakin?

I just rebuilt my engine, ie: new main bearings, rod bearings, piston rings, etc...
How long should the break in period be?

I think VT engines recommends between 1000 and 2000 miles? You want to vary the speed and RPM you use frequently without getting on it hard, and I would change the oil after say 500 miles and then again after 500. Its probably not strictly nessicarry... but it can't hurt anything.

Did you have your block re honed? Break in is about 500 miles then you can get on it more up to 1000 mile then your good to go. I changed my oil at 50 miles and then again at 500. I used a magnetic oil drain plug and glad I did. breaking in gets alot of metal shavings in the oil (plug looked like a chia pet at 50 miles).

Alright cool. I defintely planned on changing the oil after 500 miles. I'll probably just end up asking Mid Coast when I'm up there getting the car tuned. Thanks man.

the guys at excessive told me 500-600 and i'll be fine. considering i live in northern VA, it's all stop and go and traffic miles. so 500 miles to me is like 1500 on the highway

When we have our motors redone why is there a break in period? When we buy them new we drive the hard as heck (don't we). Just asking guys not trying to be difficult.

The break in is for the cylinder walls and seating the rings. When you buy the car you should really go easy on it for 500 miles.
