Default nitrous questions...

Hey guys i m new to this furum site... I have few questions about nitrous. I want to install a 75-125- shot of nitrous in my stang, but dont know a whole lot about it. First will i have to reflash my ecu? Ifso can i do it using my preditor? Second will this amount of nitrous harm my car? I really dont feel like f-ing my car up just for a little fun. Lastly will have to throw on larger injectors? what my goal is, to be able to keep up with my dads 99 lightning. He is running 13.3's in the 1/4. The last time i went to the track i ran a 14.245@99.77 but that was when i only had my exhaust job done, since then i have added new parts. Hopefully with the 3.73's i will be putting on in a week and the nitrous i will be able to keep up.

Nitrous isn't bad for your motor as long as you have a tune for it. your predator can reflash the ecu but it doesnt come loaded with a Nitrous tune. You should stick with a 100 shot if safety is a concern and make sure your kit comes with a window switch and full throttle switch for safety as well. Get a wet kit for ease of use and your ready to roll (well kinda - just need tips on using it).

13.3's shouldn't be a problem.

And what is a window switch. Sorry i must sound dumb, but i dont know very much about it, other than it cools the intake charge and adds a great deal of instant HP. Thanks for the help!

mmm... somebodies got a Nitrous FAQ somewhere...

first - basically what your doing when your using nitrous is injecting large amounts of cold oxygen into your motor - and you need more fuel to go along with it to make power and be safe. Dry kits only inject nitrous and rely on higher fuel pressure to add more fuel to the engine. wet kits inject both nitrous and fuel at the same time. Window switches make sure the nitrous only injects during a set rpm - for example from 2500 - 5800 rpm. A WOT (wide open throttle) switch will ensure the nitrous only injects when the pedal is to the floor.

If buying new, plan on about $700 to get you everything you need new. NX is the best kit in many folks opinion.
