Help, I can't Burn Rubber
Alright Guys,
I have a stock 2003 Mustang GT, and bought it with only 2000miles on it. I currently have 19,000 miles on it. My Question is this, When I take off from a stand still my rear tires will not Burn rubber. Another words the engine revs up and when I launch, nothing it seems like I loose the power to the rear. I tried it without the overdrive, and the traction control off but nothing.
What is wrong, do i need to do something with the computer in the car?, or something else.
Thanks guys.

RE: Help, I can't Burn Rubber
From your post, it seems that your car is an automatic. Try a line-lock... that's when you apply just enough brake to keep the front wheels from moving, but not too much so it will allow the rear tires to spin. It's not so good for the brakes, but you can try to see if you can break them loose this way. If you do it a few times, it shouldn't hurt anything... and don't spin them for too long, it heats the rear brakes up pretty quick.

Just do a brake stand. I have a auto and I never have a problem getting my wheels to burn rubber. You can also neutral drop it but that would screw up your transmission.[&:]

you Timmah - thats called powerbraking, or brakestanding - Linelock is a device to lock the brakes with a push of a button

I just use my E-brake then try to spin the tires.... Doesn't work for some strange reason [sm=headbang.gif]
on that note, have you ever heard of anyone hooking the E-brake up to the front disks? I wondered that on day while sitting in traffic. I was soooo frustrated, I just wanted to sit there and smoke the tires

Hmmm.... maybe thats because your e-brake locks up the rear...Just maybe.... I can smoke the tires with little or no brake pressure at all, but not like a manual. The slushbox makes the power transfer a lot weaker. If you can't burn rubber driving a GT, you need to cut up your license!
