Did youloosen the 2 motor mount nuts, this usually allows the motor to tilt back enough to get the trans in. Also, put a block of wood under the oil pan and place the floor jack there so the motor doesn't fall back too far crunching things on the firewall, done it many times without a problem, good luck.
