Default AIR CONDITIONING ??

Hi

The air conditioning in my 99 gt just blows out ambient air temperature, like the same temp as the vent. I got a pressure gauge and tested the pressure of the A/C system and it reads normal. Then i realized when I turn the A/C on the engine doesn't dip slightly like the power is been drawn by the compressor. I checked to see if the compressor turns on when i turn the A/C on and sure enough the compressor doesn't turn. I never heard any noise of the compressor breaking or anything like that. I looked in the manual and found a fuse for A/C clutch which im not sure is, but I replaced the fuse and still no answer.

CAN ANYONE HELP

Its really hot in there with out it.

Try disconnecting the pressure switch and jumper the two wires in the harness together. See if the compressor turns on afterwards. It's the switch on your ac line coming off of the condenser coil just to thedrivers sideof your upper radiator hose.

Could just be low on freon if the above suggestion works.

Could just be low on freon if the above suggestion works.
Or a malfunctioning pressure switch.

+1

Also don't leave the jumper on for more than a few seconds, just to test, because if it is low on freon and you run it like that you WILL seize the compressor.

It is very possible you didn`d add enough refrigerant. If it is low it will cut off on low pressure and restart when the pressure rises in the system than cut off again and keep doing this untill you have the proper amount in the system.

Your low on refrigerant if the compressor is cycling as you describe.

i checked the pressure with a guage and it says it is full, its actually at the top of the full line. wouldn't it be bad to over fill the system or could the guage be giving me a bad reading.
