Default $212 dollars? double the cost of my parts? are they trying to rip me?

i have experienced the imfamous "lock out" from second to third and slip outs when trying to move into reverse. i heard from all over one wy to deal with that was to get a new quadrant and adjuster. i wanted the fiore brand parts. these cost 80$ SHIPPED. i called my local stang modification shop and they said that it would cost $212 to install everything. 2 parts. so my hopes were kinda busted right then, is this price logical and will i have to suck that up or are they trying to get me? what other places could i go to to get these parts installed and how much should i really be looking to pay? does any one native to the southern california area know of where i could go to do this even if it is yourself? i saw a lot of people did it themselves but im just not that eperienced yet

I'm not so sure that a quadrant and adjustable cable is going to eliminate your problems. If you are completely shifting into reverse and it pops out of gear while moving, that's a tranny issue, not a clutch issue. Your shop is most likely quoting you high because they really don't want to deal with it.
Just my .02 on it.

Why'd you post twice? If your car is broken then you gotta fix it.

the 3650 is notorious for shift forks and syncros breaking i had the same problem and the damn thing had to be rebuilt because of a bent shift fork...

Installing the quadrant and adjuster is not that hard. I did my Steeda set in like 45 minutes, thats with the shifter cable and removing the seat. But like everyone else is stating, I dont think that will fix your problem. I still have that problem and have installed the Steeda kit, new clutch and new shifter.

+1
Sometimes my reverse will grind too, I solve that the same way, clutch in..put it in 3rd or 4th than move it to reverse.

Personally, I think that trouble getting into gear has more to do with a bent shift fork than it does a quadrant.

+1 I don't think a quad is going to fix this problem.
