I am hearing a slight hissing sound comming from the radiator cap, I think it might be my devil, Ill replace and let you know if that was it, if not the car has 87k in it so its about time to change the hoses, water pump, thermostat... any ways. Do they make the blue goodyear hoses for 96-98 4.6l?

thanks again

I was inthe same nightmare myself on my 99. Just started the other day (it was100 + outside). Opened the hood and there's coolant around the cap. Refilled the tank back up,bolted to the store, come out of the store and coolant is leaking out of the cap all over the fan.

went to auto store, bought a new cap, added collant/water again, no problem since but coolant still smelled when at operating temp. I washed down the fan and the inner body frame behind the fan and the smell is gone.

I chalked it up to being hot outside (first time I drove when 100 + outside) and a plastic cap that's been on for years.

I replaced the cap & still have the smell. I`m thinking that it could possibly be the intake. Usually they crack out the front where you would see the leak, but I`m wondering- if it cracks internaly, woulden`t the coolant get sucked into the intake air stream & out the exhaust, giving the coolant smell, but no visible leak??[&:]
