im about 99.9% sure my transmission died tonight.....when i hold in clutch it makes a bad loud obnoxious hissing and whining sound....that was at first then it got worse on my way home...the car didnt even have to be in gear and it was whining and hissing. when i give it gas the rpms shoot up and it takes forever to gain speed. i was actualy driving normaly on the interstate only about 10 mph over speed limit when it happened. i didnt notice til i got off at the exit and held in clutch at light. could it be by any possiblity just a clutch? and if it is my transmission what tranny should i go with? t56?and imma want to replace the clutch too....what should i go with also..

If you were just cruizing down the road and it started then it's probably just the clutch. I had a stock clutch in a 98 mustang I had explode into a million pieces while I was just driving down the road.

ok whats the clutch that i need? better than what i have...clutch and pressure plate.

Probably just the throw-out bearing.

ya mechanic told me it was...but imma replace clutch...getting a 20% discount on a zoom stage 3 clutch kit....whats the torque rating on it?
