Catalytic Converters
Hey guys, since I live in the great state of CA, I have to ask this question before I buy my GT. Just wondering why the 2001-2003 GT has 4 catalytic converters? In other words, why so many cats, while other fast cars (camaro) only have one? Are these 4.6 engines big polluters or what? Thanks.

RE: Catalytic Converters
Huge polluters and Ford wanted the pollutant 'image' of the Mustangs to look more attractive, so 4 cats it is.
Highflow aftermarket cats will work more efficiently and still pass emissions, but not visually. Getting technical, you can only replace cats with OEM replacement parts & you have to use the same amount of cats.

Move outta the state, remove your cats and never worry about emmissions again. (unless you move to another state with testing/emmissions)

RE: Catalytic Converters
Well that sucks. However, if you know the right people, you can always get around the restrictions. I know, it is so frustrating to see how this system does not work and is absolutely rediculous. Moving on, I still can't figure out why the GT needs so many cats and other cars do not...what does that tell you about the 4.6 engine? To me, it isn't a good thing, maybe I'm wrong though. Thanks for the help guys.
