Default hard clutch

im about to buy a 2000 mustang GT but the clutch pedal is really hard to push in and with my last car that i owned the clutch was easier to push then the gas pedal and that is what i am used to. is there a way to loosen up the clutch linkage some way or am i better off just leaving it all alone and just get used to pushing in the clutch harder?

You are probably used to a hydraulic clutch mustangs have a cable clutch. Its a big difference between my pickup and my mustang. Ive drove a few 99-04 GT's and some feel a little stiffer than others mine being stiffer. I like it once you get used to it you wont mind at all. But after driving my pickup to work for a few days then getting the mustang out for the weekend it feels like im getting a left leg work out. But its normal if the clutch is slipping or gets really stiff at the bottom it probably need a new clutch.

I noticed that too. I just came out of the market 2 days ago (I bought a 2003 mustang GT), the 2000 I tested had a very easy to press but hard to follow out clutch. Thew 2003 GT I bought has a very heavy clutch, that I prefer. I want just a little bit more weight, though, so I'm throwing a post in here just in case somebody comes up with a way to lighten it, reversing the process will probably weight it down a bit. Then me and the OP can both be happy.

That being said, the heavier clutches seem to involve the 3650, while the lighter ones seem to involve a T5 or a T45 of some kind. Is that true, by any chance? (at stock, of course)

I like the heavy clutch. It lets me feel like i'm more part of the car.

I love the heavier clutch, it's only a pain when you're in really slow bumper to bumper traffic, otherwise it's great. I feel like it'll take more punishment than a real light clutch, you'll get used to it after a couple weeks and won't wanna go back to a light clutch, thats how I was anyway.
