The 3650 is actually a pretty good transmission. Not a single problem with mine at 380whp.

The 3650 is better than the T-45. Got 51k on mine with no problems thus far. You can break anything if you abuse it, be it the 3650 or the AOD tranny. As long as you don't powershift the crap out of it the tranny will hold up fine.

The T-45 is a decent tranny, its just the synchos went out on it pretty quickly under any abuse. My old man's 99 Cobra has the T-45 in it with 64k miles and it still shifts like brand new.

Your best option isa car that wasn't beat to hell. Either trans can last 100k or 5k, all depends on how it was/is driven.

look for something with low miles that is COMPLETELY stock would be advice. I agree that a totally built auto can smoke a manuals ***, proven fact but its not what HE is looking for, its his first mustang and he wants to have fun!

my 3650 is fine, i drive mine just as hard as any other kid although i dont powershift. about to hit 70k on the clock.
