Default Aluminum Block Pros and Cons

I recently spun a main bearing in my 99 gt. I am going to rebuild from the block up. I kinda want to go with the Ford Racing Aluminum block but I am wondering if the heat dissipation is going to be the same or if Iam running the chance of my new motor running hot? I am in the process of doing my home work now and I would like to know if any of you guys have any experience with aluminum blocks and what the pros and cons?

with an aluminum block.. you should start the car and let it idle for 10 minutes.. so the aluminum will heat up and expand. iron blocks this isnt necessary as iron doesnt expand or contract as much as aluminum

Aluminum Block > Cast Iron

Aluminum blocks are way better than Cast Iron blocks, heat dissapation isnt controled by the material of the block. Thats what you have coolant and a radiator for. The Aluminum block is gonna save you A **** TON of weight tho...

The weight is really the only thing.

You will get bend and warpage with an aluminum block. not to the extent the motor wont run, but you could lose a little bit of compression. a cast iron block can be rebuilt many more times than an aluminum block can, and not to mention it can handle head better, but doesnt cool as fast as an aluminum block. but the temperature of the engine is vital to performance, so how much heat do you really want to lose?? youre only going to save 200 pounds if you run an aluminum block, and sacrifice functionality and endurance. is it worth it? some people swear by them, but its a person by person opinion. i feel a cast iron block with aluminum heads is the most aluminum ill have in my motor
