for the money, it is pointless. Your half way to boost with the amount it takes to get cammed.

Ok heres the deal.

You cant have stage 2 cams unless you flycut the pistons. That means you have to have piston work done. The one exception that i know about is with VT. Their stage 2's dont require you to FC. But it is pointless to get stage 2 cams unless you have aftermarket or ported heads. End of story. Its a waste of money. If you arent going to do that then just get stage 1 cams. The stage 2 cams are made with ported heads in mind. They need that extra air flow. Thats what all the cam places are going to tell you. . . . In about 4 days i'll tell you what kind of numbers stage 2 heads and stage 2 cams do. . .

Cams installed: $1000
Blower with everything installed: $4000 somewhere cheap. . .

Plus if i put on cams and you dont and we both get blowers. . . then im going to rape you everytime.

People these days never put any time into their engine's. Most people just put on blowers and call it a day.

I have never seen stage II cams plus instale for 1k. The heads need to come off for stage two so the springs can be replaced. I can see 1k for stage I though. And also you dont have to cut the pistons for all stage II cams. You can get adjustable cam gears and retard the timing 2 degrees. You can get used set-ups and piece blower kits together cheaper. I never said anything about how both together would perform against each other.

if you install the cams yourself like i did it doesn't cost $1000 bucks. only the cost of the cams which is roughly $550 dollars. and to install the valve springs if your doing stage2 and higheryou do not need to remove the heads from the car. i installed vt stage one cams in my car about 2 months ago and have been very happy with the gains. although i have'nt had it dyno'ed there is a noticable gain that you can seriously feel. and like said before the car doesn't die after 5500 rpm's like before seems like it wants to go well past 6k. and just keepspulling

Im not trying to start any argument here. He asked for numbers and I gave them. IMO I think that the numbers cams give us are just night high enough or a huge improvement. Our cars sound great with cams, but with the same amount of money, why not get nitrous and set it up right and have impressive numbers. For building a n/a motor though, we all know cams are a must for power improvemnet. I myself am not happy with the gains from cams. I see cars all day that a cam(s) make huge differences, like an ls1 will gain an easy 60whp. The mod motor just doesnt seem to respond alot to cams like others. I know there are people who feel the same way on here so dont flame me please. Its just an opinion from experience.

i agree with you to some degree the mod motors do suck a bit when it comes to mods. and yea other cars to to respond better to cams then are 4.6mustang's. butI think thegains are still nothing to just spit at. just my opinion
