stage2 cams...
I am getting VT stage 2 cams with crower springs at the end of the summer. What is the average power increase between stock PI cams, Stage 1, Stage 2 and maybe stage 2 blower cams. I'm dead set on stage 2, best for the future upgrades but I still wanted to know the number difference.
please state weather it's fwhp or rwhp. Right now I'm making w/ a PI motor, 256rwhp with the most basic bolt ons.
thanks

There is no definate difference between stage 1s and 2s, that is to say you cannot say it makes "7" more whp.. too many variables.
Funny thing, I made 256 before the cams as well, but I was not tuned, with full boltons (lt,mid, cat, plenum, RAI w/ maf, t/b, u/d pulleys). After the cams and tune I made 280 WHP and 290 FT/LBs. I acutally lost about 10 ft/lbs but I think that was in the tune, and IMO I could have made another 5-10 WHP pretty easy if my then tuner knew WTF he was doing.
It picked up ALOT at redline though, made something like 30 more WHP at redline than it did before the cams. Thats the big difference, the car doesn't fall off at 5500 RPM like it used to.
BTW, it is VERY hard to pick a cam now that will maximise power down the road. You don't want a blower cam on a n/a car (for power reasons, it will run ok) and even with a stage 2 n/a cam if you build the motor etc you will want a custom one instead of the 2. If your dead set on teh blower, a n/a stage 2 cam will be OK on a stock shortblock setup, but if you build the motor and up the boost it won't work (too much overlap).

I made 256whp/300wtq before cams. Now I make 288whp/304wtq. Thats with comp. I think cams are pointless. It sure sounds good with some cut-outs on it though.
