Be prepared to spend $2,000 on the swap... I mean, I'm getting the main parts for way less, but after everything I know it'll be up there.

You're not going to find a 99+ w/ low miles for $10,500...

I'm doing the swap, I was just telling you to plan for unforseen expenses...

It's also nice to have a spare car...this isn't a few hour install, more like a few days.

HOW?

Also, I know parkway ford used to sell an install kit? Is it still available and where can I get it?

I'm looking at $475 for the main pieces, but not the install stuff, but I also want cams and a TUNE... Tunes are expensive and I factored that in.

well, as i said, i got my whole kit with everything except the heater hose + 20bux, for 900 no tune. Yes a tune will be worth it, but im jus sayn he can do the swap for less the 900. Ebay works wonders.

Yeah I got the heads complete with cams and cam gears plus the intake off a 30k mile car for $265 plus shipping, so the deals are out there, just gotta be in the right place at the right time. Definitely check eBay because there are always a few sets on there for sale and you can definitely get at least the heads for under $400, possibly a complete package like I did. The extra parts I will have to buy will cost under $200, so total I'm in for under $550, and since I'm going to do it myself I don't need to figure in installation. I will likely have it dyno tuned afterwards which will cost more, but I'll worry about that later. I'd definitely recommend a PI swap as your first major mod (I did exhaust first, but oh well) because it's the cheapest horsepower you'll get, and you'll be hanging with the '99+ guys and even be a bit faster due to higher compression. You'll shock a lot of people that's for sure.

Yeah, you're going to have to try really really hard to spend 2,000 dollars on the swap. And if you have somebody that knows what they are doing then you can get it done in a day.

i got my heads cams and intake from a local 01 GT owner for $400. i ended up spending 4 grand, porting, cams, valves springs.... i spent over 2 grand on just those basic parts alone. 800 worth of porting, 550 cams, 400 valves installed, 180 springs installed. plus all the other little parts, some unseen expenses, and $700 in tuning. i spared no expense, and had my work done by some of the best guys in the business.

for a plain old pi swap, the stock heads cams and intake can be found for a few hundred, pick up the bolts and gaskets you need, and easily be under a grand if you do it yourself. just depending on what kind of deals you get, and any unseen expenses.
