Default Brand new motor! WHAT OIL?

I was told by someone that you do not ever want to start/break-in a new motor with full synethic motor oil (i.e. royal purple) becuase it will not let the ring set right? I going to be starting the car up for the first time next weekend and I wanted to know what oil to use. I went to autozone and i figured i would buy motorcraft 5W-30 oil (which is factory i think) but they only had synethic. I ask the guy about it and he said that all motorcraft is now a synethic mix. So...What oil do i need to use to ensure the proper engine break will happen on my fresh motor? and is 5W-30 the right weight?

Also, Should i use Royal purple ATF or Syncromax in the transmission?
And does anybody know the capcity of our cooling system? Royal purple says to use 1 oz of purple ice in the cooling system per quart of capcity...

I used valvaline 5w-30 for the break in of my motor. I put Syncromax in the tranny and I think it was 2 gal in the cooling system.

I cant remember how much tranny fluid. I just filled it until it started to come out of the fill hole in the side of the tranny.

You will have a leaky barrel after 2 minutes!!!!!! I was told that Synthetics will find creases that normal oils won't in an older engine (hence the oil leak after syn change) Imagine what it would do to an enigine that has not properly sealed yet (break in)....

I say NO SYNTHETIC!!!!!

I just installed a new block. 5w30 for 500 miles, change 5w30 for 500 more, then 5w30 for 3000 then your free to go to synthetic!

3.7x quarts of tranny fluid I think. Just buy 4, and stop when it comes out the fill hole

I believe it's 3qts on the 99+ and 3.25qts on the 96-98 tranny's.
The first two oil changes should be done at 1500miles and 3000miles and I would use 10w-30. From then on use 5w-30 fully synthetic every 4-6kmi depending on your driving conditions 4k being beat on and in dusty areas and 6k for highway use
