Top 5 affordable performance mods
I just recently started driving my wifes 97 Mustang GT. It is a manual, 4.6 w/single overhead cam, 75,000 miles. Other then an aftermarket catback and a K&N filter (not intake system, just filter), there does not appear to be any other performance mods.
For these 4.6 modular engines, what would be the next 4 or 5 best mods to get for performance gains. Nothing too expensive (like superchargers, etc...).
I'm thinking:
-gears
-cold air intake system
-larger throttle body
What else????
Thanks.

Intake
TB WITH Plenum (you will really get the gains from the plenum)
Change out the mid pipe to a h or an x the stock is restrictive and you will get more gains then the catbac gave.
A PI head swap may be a good choice too. Money wise it isn't that bad if you get a good deal on the heads.

Would you recommend certain brands for TB/plenum? Are they easy to install? I did my intake myself... no big deal... but I simply have no clue what this TB/plenum are like.
TB... what size is best if my car is stock (except K&N intake)? Does it work according to "the bigger, the better" principle or not?
Most importantly, if I am thinking of a possibility of installing a s/c later on, would I have to replace the TB/plenum again?.. (ok, I know this sounds stupid but I really don't know)
Wouldn't it be great if there was some encyclopedia, some sort of "upgrade Bible," where you could read all this stuff
Thanks!

Save up your money and do a PI swap. Bolt-on's aren't gonna be worth the $ on that car.
