Default mach 460....

I have had problems with my CD player before and I disconnected then reconnected the battery and it fixed it, so I tried that again and it didn't work this time. My radio works, but I press CD and it will only say CD ERROR anytime I try to play/load/eject any CD's. And it says all 6 slots are full, but I think I only have 4 in there. Should I have it diagnosed and repaired at like a Best Buy or some kind of audio shop or Ford, or what should I do? This Mach system is a piece.

i work at a dealer and the indash cdchanger's in my opinion really suck. we send them out all the time to the radio shop to be repaired. you may want to save yourself the hassle and just buya nice cd player and beat the stock radio with a bat.

I was under the impression that you couldn't use an after market head unit with the Mach 460 system.

Check E-Bay. You can find a nice, (sometimes new), pull out factory head unit at a very reasonable price.

Yea, I was talking to a Best Buy rep about the possibilities of getting a system in the future, but apparently since its a "Premium" sound system from the factory its difficult to wire amps and subs on the stock head unit. I would have to get new everything and they would have to rewire and re do everything.

But I'm not ready to spend the money for brand new audio components. I kinda wanna stick with the factory audio for now. Would it be expensive to have the POS mach 460 fixed?

You can use the stock 460 amps and speakers with an aftermarket deck with no problems. there's a wiring harness you can get that plugs all the stock amps up,and uses the RCA jacks for amp input. Just don't change the speakers, the geniuses at Ford decided to put 2ohm speakers in it,if you try running 4ohm speakers on them they'll cut out like a ****.

If you want to upgrade your stereo you wont beable to use the factory amps but you can still use the speakers and woofers. You will need a amp bypass plug. I got mine from crutchfield for like $20. I had to use one for my indash TV. It still sounds just as good s factory.

i don't know why so many people have so many problems with the 460. i've never had a problem with it. i just use a laser lense cleaner on it once in awhile. the only discs that skip for me are ones that are REALLY scratched, and even those sometimes play just fine. i think the 460 is a great unit!

I've had no trouble with mine but my friend bought an '05 GT brand newwith the mach1000 6-disk changer and had tons of trouble including he couldn't get his CD's out. When the dealer took the stereo out, he never got his CD's back either!
