Time for oil change

RE: Time for oil change
1. all automotive engine oil has detergent (as already stated)
2. dealer cost is probably higher than a local shop
3. 4.6 is designed for synthetic.
The technical advantages of synthetic motor oils include:
[ul][*]Measurably better low and high temperature viscosity performance[*]Better chemical & shear stability[*]Decreased evaporative loss[*]Resistance to oxidation, thermal breakdown and oil sludgeproblems[*]Extended drain intervals with the environmental benefit of less waste oil created. [/ul]

I change my own oil, use synthetic, and K&N oil filter every 4000 miles. Take my used oil down to my local Advanced Auto Parts store. I just feel if I'm not doing its not getting done right.
Nothing wrong with having someone else do it if thats your thing. I actually take my 2001 E46 BMW to my BMW guy (not the dealership) because he charges me 55 bucks which is really only a few bucks more then what it would cost me and he does the work...kind of a no brainer...however I know and trust the guy as well.

I've changed my oil myself since I've owned the mustang...but I'm running out of places to put the used oil. So if you trust them, why not let them deal with the mess?

And the fact that they just drain it in 10 seconds then refill it is bad...... It needs to be left alone for it ALL to drizzle out. You can do your own oil change in 15 minutes in your driveway........ But you say your to lazy? I bet it takes you an hour or so to wait for someone else to do it.
And USE SYNTHETIC. the first mod (yes, even before gears lol) everyone should do is swap ALL fluids to synthetic. My car takes almost x2 as long to heat up with no change other that full synthetic motor oil.. its simply that much better (less friction).
If your car uses oil when using synthetic, its already screwed anyway. the reason that syn will sometimes use more is the shape of the molcules (SP FTW) is more consistant, smaller, and round, unlike dyno oil which is non consistant and larger/not round. Syn will leak etc if you alraedy have engine problems, but not if you don't.
The entire thing with syn causing problems was only back in the day, cylinder rings were designed to expand the first few thousand miles, and the reason they did so was additives in the oil. the syn didn't have it, and it was causing problems with engine break in. this doesn't happen anymore (they do the rings differently) so its no longer a problem.
Synthetic FTW. Nothing else will ever touch my car again. Have the dealership swap all fluids to synthetic, or better yet have a oil change place do it (stealership is gonna rape ya).

I do now how to fix computers which I could sit here and say how easy most things are to fix on them and you would have to be an idiot to pay someone to fix but I love the money.
