Default Catalytic converters and mufflers

On my 96 GT my engine was running too rich for a while, Ford says it ruined my converters, or maybe just one. I get a rattle when i drop the pedal and hit 3.5k rpms. My mufflers also need to be replaced as they are starting to leak exhaust. I was wondering what exhaust to replace those with. I'm looking for a deep, rich sound, that can be heard, but not across town. Also, is there a system i can buy that sounds better and doesn't include the cat converters ? I don't mind having them off, montana doesn't do emission checks. Is there a website or something that has the various sounds recorded? Thanx guys.

To delete the cats, you need an off road mid-pipe. I had a mac off road H on mine. Very good fit and quality for less than $200.

For the mufflers, I'm a big fan of flowmaster 40's but those with the off road mid pipe might be a little louder than what youre looking for. You could use some flowmaster 50 series. That would be quieter, but still have an awesome sound.

Heres a few clips of my setup when i had my stang:

yeah you can get offroad h/x pipes(no cats) that will make them quite a bit louder, then with what ever catback system you choose, it'd be a pretty nice sound

i have Manaflows TUR-X with high flow cats and then the Magnaflow Magnapacks and it sounds amazing!!! Everyone that has ever hear it, that likes a little rumble, tells me its the best sounding stang they have ever heard! So i reccomend that.... only down side to it is that setup will run you over 2K for everything(luckly the dealer i bought my car from installed it to help sell it)
Good luck!
