Any trick to get wires through firewall or into trunk with a convert?
'99 mustang convert, about to set up the subs and go looking for a way through the firewall for a 4 gauge wire. Also how to get into the trunk since the back seats don't fold..........any tips would be great from those that have worked on this kind before. Thanks.

i gave up on trying to get it thru the firewall so i ran it inside the driver-side fender and then thru a grommet adjacent to where the harnesses for the windows/locks enter the cabin.
i'm not sure how different it is for a vert but i just tucked the wire in the gap on the end of the seat and then on into the trunk

That's what I used for my boost gauge. If you punch a hole in it....punch from the inside out...that way you wont hit any wires.

Dude i went through the firewall then under the carpet and under the rear seats and its a piece of cake to get to the truck under the vert pouch. . . . .It was cake man to do subs. . . Right now i've got one 1000 Watt Kenwood Comp sub and a 1500 Watt JBL amp . . . that comes out when i go to the track. Sounds great though. I took out every peice of wiring in that car and redid it. Put in 3-way speakers and tweeters on the top four with a JVC head unit. Mach 1000 ftl haha

This is the 5th car I've done this with.......if I had the interest I would too redo all of the stock speakers and wiring. But to pop the door panels off look too temperamental for my taste (I'm 31 and getting cratchity). But the small dual 10" box and dual amps will fit so that is nice. God help me if I get a flat and have to pull all of it out on the side of a road. My previous car had a huge dual 12" box and man when I went to sell the car and take it out, what a time that was!
I'll report back when this gets done.

Well then, perhaps those will be done soon as well. It ended up that the firewall had an unused grommet and hole so I ended up just using that. The hardest part was getting all of the wires though the quarter panel and then figuring out it was just down the back where there is a hole in the bottom tarp and it was done! Haven't put the power to it yet, but will soon. Wife needs to use the car.........

when i did my system i just took a good size drill bit (don't remember what size), drilled through my firewall, ran the wires under the carpet. took the back seat bottom out and followed the factory wiring into the trunk. can't get much simpler.

how exactly do the door panels come off? i have some Infinity components in my room waiting to go in when i get some time, but i'm infamous for breaking stuff when trying to get them off [:-]
