Default Steering Response...

SUCKS. I don't get it... My tires are great, my power steering level isn't bad. If I'm driving, even at say 50+ mph, and I jiggle the steering wheel right and left, it seems like I can move it an inch or two before the car actually reacts. I would reaaaally like to know how to tighten this up. Solid Steering Shaft, steering rack bushings? Any ideas please.

Thanks,
Shawn

Do you get any noise from the pump or rack (whine)? If so, it mightbe air in the system. To bleed it, just rotate the wheels back and forth a few times while sitting still, with the engine running. Only go one turn each way though - don't go to the stops. not sure why on this last detail, but that's what the experts say to do.

Other than that, maybe a bad rack? Dunno. Good luck!

Sounds like the stock rubber bushings are all worn out to me, replace them with polyurathane and it will really firm up the steering.

I saw something in an old article of MM&FF today about a place to get all new steering componets on the super cheap, I will see if I can find it later today when I go home.
