3 point strut tower brace

3 point strut tower brace
can i bend the 2 bars out a little bit so that my TB pipe for the intake will fit... the 2 bars that connect to the firewall that is... anyone know ... i think that i can heat them with ym dads torch at work, bend them outward a little. then drill new holes in the firewall and connect it because the bar on the passanger side seat that connect to the firewall gets in the way of the TB pipe so i figure if i bend it outward, and same with the other side... it will still work as an effective brace AND i could fit the pipe ... what do u guys think

RE: 3 point strut tower brace
im gonna call steeda and ask them if i can just cut off the 2 bars taht connect to the firewall and just use the 1 bar that goes from 1 strut tower to the other... that sounds better than bending things to me... and it sounds like it might work seeing how there are strut tower braces just are only 1 bar...

RE: 3 point strut tower brace
well tell me if this makes sense .... this is how i figure it....
the 3rd point that connects to the firewall is basically worthless because the firewall is so flexable that i could bend it with my hand. i figure that the stiffening doesnt really come from that, so if i "delete" that 3rd point and only brace it at 2 points, the passanger side strut towering over to the driver side strut ... i figure that it will eliminate flex where it matters (the 2 strut towers) and the connection to the firewall that is so flexibale and worthless CAN be eliminated. although it might strengthen the design of the brace by making it triangular, i figure that the main strength and point of the brace is to brace from 1 strut tower to the other. just like the cobras... they dont have 3 point braces.... just 2 point braces... thats why i think it may work . ill give steeda a call and see what they say about my logic...

RE: 3 point strut tower brace
dont bend that sucker, if you bend it one way, your either going to make it shorter or not as wide, whichever, but then it wont fit back onto your firewal,, it would be bent too far away, your going to have to live with it, or take it off all-together, and plus, if you were to bend that thing, and now your going around a corner, it doesnt have the same strength it use to have, and might snap around a corner, and you would notice a huge difference as your going around a corner and all of a sudden you feel a whole hell of a lot of body roll

RE: 3 point strut tower brace
i took it off today because id rather have my tunable induction intake with MAM... i noticed that the ride is smoother now without it and i kind of like it... also i dont think it made too big of a diff in handling so either im gonna kkeep it off, or if steeda seems to think its ok... cut the 2 bars that connect to the firewall and make it a 2 point brace instead of a 3 point... well see what happens
