Default Gear Grinding

Hey guys, i have a Supercharged 96' GT with about 75,000 miles. I have only had the car for about 2 months and when i try to quick shift from 1st to 2nd, the gears grind. Is this a common issue with Mustangs? I also have a BMW M Coupe which allows me to quick shift without any problems, the gearbox is very slick. I know that Mustangs usually have long throw shifters. The cure may be a short shifter. Anytime i try to shift the Mustang at the same speed as the BMW, the gear grinds. Maybe its my style, or maybe its the tranny not allowing a quick shift??

I have a 96' gt and it does the same thing. It grinds from first to second and from forth to fifth. With a five speed. All it is, is a synchronizer(s). That's what I'm having done, and sense I'm replacing what needs to be replaced, I'm replacing them all. (5-speed=6 synchros. w/reverse.\6-speed=7synchros. w/reverse) It's caused from a wornout, beat on tranny. And it fixed everything.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH yeah, I also replaced my stock shifter with a short shifter because that is what every manual needs, and knowing, it didn't fix anything. Short shifter are fun though.

Yea my gears grind from 1 to 2 and 4 to 5 and even sometimes into reverse. Its just one of those crappy things you have to deal with when you own a stang. (Unless you spend major coin to replace your tranny)

My '04 doesn't grind going into second but I hear a very dull thud noise.
I brought it in for service at the dealer cause it is still under warranty and had them check it out to be sure nothing was wrong.

The tech said it was normal for second to sound like this and that he hasn't had one in the shop with the 3650 that didn't make some noise.

Grinding is a different thing though.

I had the same prob in my 97. It is the synchronizer, just getting old, not too much to fix.
