Default got a problem starting?

ok me and my mom switched vehicles today so i could save some gas on a trip... well i got a call from her saying it wouldnt start.. she said she was just driving down the road then BAM died.. she said the lights wont turn on wouldnt turn or anything when she tried to start it.. so she gets someoen to jump the car and it runs so she takes it home goes inside and goes back out and its dead again nothings happening.. so i get home and i mess with it for a lil bit nothing.. doesnt turn when i try to start it nothing no lights nada...so i figured i need a new battery, so i go n get one and i put it in and nothing still.. so tomorro imma replace the battery cable connectors or w/e that hooks up from the cable to the battery n see if it works.. but if that doesnt work what do you think it could be??

could be a loose terminal, something similar happened to me once, the lights went out but the engine didn't die. when i got home, i found that the (-) terminal was loose
