My car lacks power..What could it be?
Hey everyone,i Have 96k miles on my stock 98 GT. my car felt like it was misfiring and when i was on the freeway i could feel it missing pretty bad so I took it into my mechanics shop and had a diagnostic check. they said that i should change my spark plug wires and spark plugs and it should fix the problem. well after replacing those two parts soon after i noticed my car ran a whole lot better and did not misfire anymore. and now a few weeks later my car feels like it lack power when i push the accelerator. Im thinking it may be the coils cause sometimes it takes a few turns to start. what do you think it could be? I would like my car to run efficiently because Im taking it on a long trip soon. +1 on the fuel filter, plus since you just did the plugs, change the air filter.
Have you seen fuel milage go down or anything, what are you basing the loss of power on?

I changed the fuel filter within a year ago, I also have a new K&N air filter. I am basing the power loss off my own knowledge, when I used to floor it my car would move, and now when I floor it the car barely picks up speed like its running on 7 cylinders.

hey crazier **** has happened a new fuel filter could become crappy in a week...id check out the fuel filter if not that or any ignition..check and see if pump is producing the psi it should be

I had a problem with my 95 V6 Camaro that caused the spark to arc through the spark plug wires onto the engine. I dunno how and I dunno why, but that car ate plug wires like crazy because of it....

Maybe your car isn't getting slower. That model puts out maybe 180 or so hp to the wheels. I think the cars around you are just getting faster. 4cyl civics are coming stock with 175-180hp to the wheels now. You should look into modding it.

Put it this way, you buy a car one week it feels fast, the next week it doesnt feel that great kinda like its missing. I know my car is stock and not that fast but thats what I was asking, what would you check if this happened to you?
