I can add to this that my car is a 2000 gt... I used the supplied instructions which was for a gt 2001-2004. The problem was that there where a bunch of other bolts/washers for my model which was not mentioned in the 2001+ instrutions.
And on the Paxton site they only had 2001-2004. But with som patience and a cup of coffe, I solved it.

I doubt you damaged anything, I used some gasket maker around the hole after tightening it and it hasn't leaked one drop. As for the idler, yeah, just the wrong bolt, see if you can find the right one. Make sure you secure the oil feed hose so its not near the belt or the fan, I learned that the hard way =(
