all i have is a K&N intake, thats it, i just got the car, dont know if i really want an offroad pipe, especially b/c i live in CA
Unless you want to swap out theo/r mid pipe with thefactory midpipe every two years when it's smog time, no, you don't want one. At least not at your performance level.

5-10 WHP assuming it doesn't throw your tune off.

I dyno'd with just a K&N, Flowmaster exhaust and a Predator tune. Then dyno'd again after the Mac O/R H-pipe went on. The dyno said I gained about 10hp and 25lbs of torque.
I suspect it should have been less, but the Predator probably wasn't really doing everything it could until the h-pipe went on, and so I gained some "more" from the tune.
Whatever -- was well worth the cost. But if you have to worry about an emissions sniffer test, I'd go with a catted pipe.
