Default TR3650?

ok, i got a built motor in my black GT and supercharger waiting to boost the **** out of it. My only issue with the car is its an auto.

now for the price of a tourque converter and a higher stall and a shift kit and a trans cooler, i could just as soon get a 5sp.

now a guy i know is selling his 3650 out of his mach 1.....13000 miles on the trans....for 100 bucks....he just told me that it needs fords TSB on it that corrects the shifting from 1-2, 2-3....which is basically the syncros and a few other things.

Now are there parts out there that can help you fix it on your own? I doubt a ford tech would be willing to fix a tsb on a trans thats out of the car....plus if they would, i'm sure its gonna be expensive as hell....

if I got a real sturdy clutch like a spec 2 or 3, would it help the trans hold up longer? or are the stock 3650s really only good to the rated 360ish hp/tq rating?

if i could buy a trans for 100 bucks and beef it up myself for another few hundred, i think it would be worth it...but i know a lot of people here hate the 3650.....let me know what you guys think

you do NOT want a 3650... The Synchros will run you around 500 Plus for the Install parts.... a bearring kit couple hundred.. then labor...... Then if u boost it like you say you are, you going to need a new Tranny anyway...... Save up the money and just get a Built C4 Tranny or sumfin..... Dont waste ur money

From what I have heard you would want the TKO tranny if going to the manual. Honestly if I were you I would just stick with a stall converter and call it a day! Wait till it blows up before spending another grand, because the spec 2 or 3 clutch will run you about the same as a stall converter. Also you can get the 3650's rebuilt with dyno sheets from online for $1k shipped to your door plus $200 core charge that you'll have to cough up. But they come with a warranty.

Thats tempting but I would just go ahead and get a TKO or something. If you already have a built motor, you should be pushing a good bit of power and the 3650 may or may not hold up to well.
