Default HELP - Starting System Problem

Recently my 97 4.6 GT failed to respond when I turned the key to start it. My first thought was that the clutch switch did not complete the starter circuit since the car would not even click when I would turn the key. I then bypassed the switch by shorting the two wires and the car started.

Since then the car occaisionally(1 out of 10)does not crank when I turn the key. To get it to crank I push the car just a few inches to slightly turn the motor and then it will crank when I turn the key. Bizarre! any suggestions?
