Drag suspension info
OK before I start making mad power with my '96 GT (PI heads and gears going in very soon) I want to make sure it's gonna hook as well as possible, so I need some opinions on different manufacturers of drag suspension components. I was looking at Steeda stuff like lighter sway bars to ditch some dead weight and the Steeda drag springs and Tokico Illumina adjustable front struts and QA1 adjustable rear struts for starters, along with subframe connectors and aluminum lower control arms. I want to get some opinions from those of you who have some quality drag components and what you would recommend.

Personally, I like stuff on a budget.
Junkyard fox 4 cyl front springs and V8 rears
cheap subframe connectors
cheap boxed control arms
cheap Monroe fox shocks
Strange fox adj front struts
I think for everything put together it cost me like $500 or so

RE: Drag suspension info
Well Ive pulled a mid 1.8 60' time with lowering springs and the Monroe Sensatrac fox body shocks in the rear. I dont think in gets much better than that with a GT on drag radials and stock clutch. I would love to find some V8 springs for the rear and some 4 cyl for the front but I dont know how far to cut them and afraid im gonna waste muh money if I try it.

leave the fronts alone and cut the rear 1.75 coils if theirs a dead coil, .75 if not. I cut my fronts 1/4 coil and its lower than I'd like it. I've got 1.5 finger distance between the wheelwell and front tire, and 3.5 finger distance in the rear

RE: Drag suspension info
The only thing I don't like about the Steeda drag springs are that they retain the stock ride height, with a drop of maybe 1/4" - 1/2", and I kinda want drop springs. I realize a lowered stance isn't the best for drag but I want the best compromise between the 2. MD when you say cheap stuff, do you mean like off brand stuff? I don't mind spending $$$ if it's going to get me quality parts.

RE: Drag suspension info
Well with just the fox springs, control arms and subframe connectors I cut a best of 1.76 & 1.78 60's on 245/45/17 Nitto's - had the swaybar and all on too. Not very consistant though but that was due to the tires, most of the 60's were in the mid 1.8 range like JD's. Car rode as good as it did stock too.
