rear wheel ABS sensor

rear wheel ABS sensor
I would liketo know more about what this is and how to replace it. I'm 99% sure that mine is bad. I just really don't know why a local ford dealer would want to charge me $95 to CHECK it, then $40 for the part and $60 labor. There's no way in hell I will pay that much.

RE: rear wheel ABS sensor
Its a Rear Wheel speed sensor...onthe rear of the car you have one at each rear wheel...They really just measure wheel speed...
Sometimes their a PITA to remove as the hole the sensor goes into...swells with rust ,,tightning around it...no biggy if it breaks...use something to drive it through from the outside towards the instide..of the car..(you have to remove the torx bolt holding iton first...AND remove the caliper and bracket and rotor if it breaks...comes out from the inside of the backing plate...use liquid wrench or something similar and soak it for a day or so BEFORE you try and remove it...Which side needsthe sensor(drivers or passenger?
