Default Chattering noise ...

Hi, I did a search and didn't find my exact problem. When the manual tranny is in neutral with my foot off the clutch, I hear achatter. Goes away when clutch pedal is depressed. Also, with tranny in first, asI release the clutch I hear it again. Car has only 8K miles (4K when I bought it) and has factory clutch best of my knowledge. Car is still under 3/36 warranty but service manager has reminded me it does not cover wear items. Any TSB's on this? I'm taking it it to dealer next week.

Might be the throwout bearing, although 8,000 miles sees a little low for that to go. Do you beat on it? Was it doing it when you got it?

+1 I went through 3 when I had my clutch done. On the 4th one I said fug it and hammered on the clutch for a few days. Went away and no problems since. That was 8K miles ago and about 8 months.

If your car is under the OEM warranty it should be covered regardless.

I have babied the car, never even barked the tires, but cannot be sure how it was trated the first 4K of its life. I didn't notice it until recently.
