I love them both but I am going to give the Mach the slight edge. Something about a live rear axle, that sweet shaker hood and that awesome 32V DOHC sound coming from them pipes. Plus the Mach is a tick or two quicker in the 1320.

I'd go with the Mach. 99 was a bad year for the Cobra. People were finding that it was only making between 270 and 280hp at the wheels and about 305 at the fly wheel. The 01 Cobra had all the problems worked out and makes 320hp. The Mach however is rated at 305hp. The plus side to it though is that solid rear axel. The Cobra has the IRS and that's more of a pain in the a** to work on than the solid. If I had to make the choice, I would go with the Mach. If I were to choose the Cobra, I would go with the 01 and scrap the 99.

mach is good, but beware it does NOT have a built bottom end like the cobras do(at least 03 cobras), it has a gt built bottom end. I have heard numerous stories of people thinking their mach is a cobra motor and throw a 150 shot on it and KABOOM!!

I had an 04 Mach 1 and loved it - had to get rid of it due to my growing family. If I had the choice between a 99 Cobra and the Mach 1, I would go with the Mach.
The shaker is awesome and the Mach is a bit more unique than that year of Cobra.

People that don't know shouldn't be giving information.....
Fixed 99 and 01 Cobras and 03 to 04 Mach 1saverage 270 to 280 at the wheels. I put down 274 bone stock and 292 with a JLT, Steeda pullies and a catback. The Mach is a bit torquier and the Cobra pulls a little harder up top.
Most (90%) people here only drive in a straight line so the solid axle is subjective. A few bushings here and there on IRS and you have a compitent handler and drag racer.
Unless you plan on doing a gear swap, IRS is no more difficult to work with than a SRA.
I chose the Cobra because, well, it's a Cobra and because of the IRS. It's nice to fly around a mountain road, hit a bump in mid-turn and not wonder where the cars' *** is gonna go.
You can't go wrong with either.....
Oh yeah....I thought this was a poll?

I know the original question that this thread posed was "which would you prefer?" But really the question should be "which would you buy?" The answer to that question, at least for me, is the 99 Cobra without a doubt. I got mine for $12.5k . You can't get a Mach for anywhere near that price. All that money that I saved will go a long way towards F/I.
