Default Hood Scoop Question

Does anyone know if I can remove my 2000 GTs honeycomb section under my hood scoop without causing any damage or risking the scoop's stability under fast driving conditions? I'm planning on inserting a blue LED inside the scoop for the time being, so I need to cut a hole in my hood and run an electric wire to my battery. Thanks guys.

i dont think you can. When i was installing my ram air kit i wanted to keep the honeycomb but remove the backing and its one piece. So I had to end up drilling out every whole you could do the same i guess and might get a little light in there.

On the `00GT, its not really a scoop. Its just a flat spot with the honeycomb mesh being held in by a few "snap fit" plastic **** that go through holes in the hood. It is very easy to remove & re-install. I`ve had mine off a couple of times for painting. When you put it back in, just remember to use some silicone in the holes, or water will drip on the engine when it rains.

If it hits the motor it will evaporate or drip off, when it rains the water goes into the engine compartment and the only place that you need to worry about is the intake, which generally is shielded by the plastic fender lining (fender intake) or gravity which makes sucking in h20 much more difficult then o2.

Thanks for the info guys. Either I'm going to remove the honeycomb piece and add the lights, get a ram air system with those lights, or get the stalker 2 hood. But for the time being, I can manage to modify the honeycomb under the scoop.
