Default 00-04 gt and cobra differences

So I am looking for a new toy, and wanted to get a cobra but am having problems finding one, and also finding one that has not been beaten up on. So here is my question besides the supercharger on the cobra what is different engine wise, is it very expensive to take a gt to cobra form. I am guessing the internals are a bit different but wanted to check with some people who would know for sure. Also is there suspension differences?? If there is too much I am going to just keep looking until I find the right cobra, but this was an idea I had. Thanks for the help

Aside from looking better on the outside, the engine is completely forged (03-04 models) and has excellent flowing 4 valve heads. They'll outflow even the most heavily ported 2v heads in stock form. Knowing what I know now, if I could do it all over again, I'd get a cobra (if I had the money as well).

The cobras (03-04) do have an independent rear suspension which is good for handling but not so much for drag racing. The experiecne quite a bit of wheel hop but those can be remedied with some IRS braces and other goodies.

Others will post more I'm sure.

I own both right now and I think it matters what you want your final car to be and how much you are willing to spend. If you have the extra money and want more than 450hp definately get the cobra. If you are on a budget and can be happy with around 400 hp get the GT. I got a GT in a trade and bought the upgrades to get close to 400hp and decided I would rather have a cobra. The cobra will hold its value much better than a GT. Feel free to PM me with any questions and I would be willing to talk on the phone if you wanted.

Well I would have to get the body kit and everything because I like the look much better, but if I went with a GT I would want to supercharge or turbo it. I thought that the compression was around 9 to 1 in the gt's so I would only be able to run about 5 pounds of boost safely without a major rebuild. So just trying my options, and see what everyone thought. Think I am leaning towards a 00-02 cobra
