What does a spun bearing sound like?

What does a spun bearing sound like?
I would image the camshaft bearing is what I MIGHT be hearing. Only on startups, once the engine is cool.
You hear it for about 1/2 a second, then its gone. Car runs strong and besides the synchros needing to be replaced in tranny, vehicle is good.

It would have to make a lot more noise than that for me to pull apart a motor with that many miles on it. Party till you puke.

If you had a spun bearing it would at first sound like a deep knocking inside the engine and would not stop. Eventually it would get louder and louder and be unmistakable. Doesn't sound like the problem to me by your description.

I've had one twice. Both times it was a loud chirp sound, once every time that cylinder fired. It would almost go away under no load, but touch the gas and it would scream.
It will get worse very quickly and can really tear things up if you try to keep driving.
What you have doesn't sound like it at all.

Mine sounded like someone inside the block trying to get out with a hammer. I would tap the gas to get the engine over 2000 rpm or brake torque it to around 1800 and I would hear the muffled tapping/knocking noise. I then drained the oil and found silver flakes.

Yeah, doesnt seem to be what you guys are describing........ hmmm....
when I change the oil this weekend, I will check to see for any metal shavings some something like that.
Would it be anything within the starter/tranny? I would tend to think not.......but not sure.

A little, quietknock at startup is acceptable... depends on which oil filter you put in there. If it's allowing the oil to drain back out of the filter into the oil pan, it's gotta re-fill the filter on every start up and it will knock like hell for a couple of seconds. Does this sound close? Try a motorcraft filter for your next one...

Im going to check the idler pulley.....my old ranger made a similar sound when that was the issue.
I know its metal/metal contact, its a f-ing annoying sound, but the performance of the vehicle isnt affected.
