Default oil

I currently run mobil 0w20 in my 04 gt. I am finding it hard to find. I would like to run 5w30 but ford tech told me to stay with 5w20 because of the sohc set up.

My question do any of you run 5w30 in their 03 04 mustang gt. If so what synthetic brand do you use. thanks

You should try royal purple synthetic oil.... They have been tested and show an increase in horse power over regular synthetic. Just imagine how well its lubricating your engine to free up a few horsepower... Jegs and summit sells it.
Its more expensive than other synthetics. about $5.75 a quart.

If you dont use royal purple for you motor. Put it into your transmission, and rear differential. That will free up a good amount of horsepower. And you change those oils so infrequently that is well worth it....

You get more horses because the sync oil is more slippery than the conventional oil. I have heard that you want to stay away from the sync stuff until you have fully broken in your engine, because you dont want oil sneaking past your not already sealed rings. Start burning oil and shhit. I am going to wait until atleast 6k on the odo before I go mobil 1. This is what I have read and heard.

After a lot of research, I found that Redline oil is the best. It's not designed to be the cheapest, but the best. Take a look. http://www.redlineoil.com/products_m...sp?subcatID=14

I use mobile-1 5-30. You can find it at your local autoparts store. I also agree about putting some type of synthetic in your gearbox and
differential. That is next on my list.
