pi swap help
im doing the pi swap this winter and i have some questions
is it worth it to buy all new heads and cams or would it be better to get the stock pi heads ported with new cams also should i use the stock pi lower intake most people tell me the stock pi intake flows just as good as aftermarket ones i just dont know if i should trust the plastic intake design

RE: pi swap help
i got a used PI kit for around $300 with the h/c/i, im just going to build them up over the winter with hot cams, ported and polished, new springs, then have it installed next summer, i did this so i can do it the way i want to and its cheaper than paying around $1000 for a new heads

You should go with either the very ugly p51 intake or Trickflows track heat intake. Both flow better then the stock PI manifold even the Typhoon intake does. Good luck on the swap ! Also either put in aftermarket cams or port and polish the heads because all stock stuff does make good power but just save some more money and go a little further you will be happy.

RE: pi swap help
hey hows it going...im actually in the process of doing my swap and what im doing is purchasing a set of low milage pi heads...get those P/P and also throw in some aftermarket cams....i used a pi intake from an 04 gt...not expensive at all i did the pi intake swap already...and all i had to purchase was new gaskets, new coolant hose, and a new o-ring....but id rather purchase a used set of pi heads..

RE: pi swap help
If you get used heads just make sure you know where the person that sold them to you lives. If you have bad heads, you can call them up and drive back over to get your money. Always when buying parts like that, pick them up at someone house. Meeting up, shipping, etc... that can end up with problems. If you do buy used heads make sure they are complete (depending on your plans), ie: valves, springs, retainers, seats, guides, cam caps, etc... Once you purchase them, take them to a machine shop and have them inspect the heads. They'll check for crack, bent valves, etc... If the heads are good then have them worked, and if they're bad go back to the guy that sold them to you and get your money back. Happy Shopping.

RE: pi swap help
Ok...take it from me..do the basic PI swap with ported heads, and the rest of the normal PI swap. Install longtubes and N20. You'll be WAY HAPPIER then what some of these guys are saying to put on.
