Oil Change Gone Bad

Oil Change Gone Bad
Changed my oil, and I did not tighten the oil filter all the way this time. Started the car, heard something like leaves being crushed for a brief second, then it idled fine...then the sound started again. I looked under and I saw oil dripping all over the floor. I turned off the motor, and here I am.
I already cleaned it up off the floor, but I just want to know if I could have blown the motor. Might sound extreme, but I just want to know before I put more oil in it, then drive it.
Alltogether, the car ran for about 10 seconds before I shut it off...and I must say, there is a slight burning smell.

haha, ive done that one before on my ranger. the old O ring on the other filter stayed on the motor and once I put the new filter on, it shot everywhere. Mine ran for about 20 seconds. Trust me, its a mistake you only do once....

I did that on a Lexus about a week ago. Oil was everywhere.
You got lucky, though. If you double gasket, sometimes the gasket does seal when the car first starts. Then the top gasket blows down the road, and you have yourself an engine that went kablooey.
