Default Comp Cams - can somebody PLEASE explain?

Here's something that's been bugging me lately: Why does Comp grind in and advance into their cams so anything more than a stage 2 needs to be degreed in a stock motor while other brands such as VT don't? Is there a reason for the advance in the grind? I personally have the Comp stage 2's but I got my pistons fly cut so I wouldn't have PTV problems. What's up with this?

So you don't absolutely have to degree them for them to run properly, but still need to degree them for maxium power gains.
