Default Question about GT HOOD

hey guys, you know when you left up ur hood underneath is coverd by this card board kinda of thing with the mustang logo in the middle. Well i noticed you can take it off becuase of all those pins around it. Is it better if i take it off or shud i just leave it on? THANKS!

i dont think it matters really, unless your trying to do weight reduction. you will see bare metal, might not look as good as with it on.

Maybe bare plastic.....but not metal.

Took mine off because it was stained and looked like crap. It's more ofa heat shield/sound barrier than anything else.

It's for noise supression and to protect the paint on top of the hood.

For the top of the hood? or do you mean the bottom "Underneath it" , so if i take it off my paint will chip off?

Think of your hood as a pot on a stove. It will heat the top of the hood alot more without that insulation on the inside.

It can be painted.
Mine was looking crappy in a few spots and I sprayed a few coats of matte black paint on it and it looks like new.

yea.. the skin on the GT hood is fiberglass... so it wouldn't be wise to take it off unless you want to heat up the hood and mess it up.

its actually incase of a engine fire, yes it does help with sound a little and hold in heat so the engine cools off at a nice rate but its made so when the engine catches fire it will fall ontop of the engine and hopefully put it out.
