Lower rear end gear (3.73 or 4.10) and aftermarket exhaust are two things that you will really notice and don't cost a fortune.

Someone once told me that 3.90's are an excellent gear but you have to have the right power to push it with them. is this true? also which IYO would be the better of the 2 gear downs for a Almost stock 99 GT 5 spd? Also i am looking at getting a set of Duals with Big Daddy Dynomax 2 Chamber Muffs, SOund like a good idea? Price for them is around 300 total for prod. 375 installed. Thanks Again

Tbird i am not fully grasping that concept explain if serious and if not serious well then you got me. although i have see open intakes but not a valve delete. Also Tbird sorry to say it but Crabon fiber belongs on Ricers not muscles. there is nothing muscular about little strands of thread and glues. Streel and Metal are muscular. Anyway, Pitt thanks for that tip. Now i guess it is just a matter of finding a good one for a good price.
Man, 100% joke. Your car wouldn't run at all without intake valves. And as for the carbon fiber, its definitely reserved for Soy injection.

I was sure the intake valves was a joke but have you seen some of the hard core guy that run an open intake with filters over it only and then have the fuel intake rerouted for some kind of messed up intake system? it is freaky looking to see it on an engine but they say it works.

Seriously though,
Gears and exhaust, are probably the most noticeable mods you can do to a stock stang and they won't kill your back account. ( I hope)
Your car comes with 3.27s if its a 5spd, so any of the choices (3.73, 3.90, 4.10) will increase acceleration drastically. I love my 4.10s. And I drive on the freeway
regularly and they aren't as crazy as everyone with 3.73s says they are. 3.90s are good gears, but I don't know how many companies make them for our cars. And no, you don't have to be pushing any specific amount of power to reap the benefits of a lower gear.
