Tire Blow Out Going 65 mph
I had a tire blow out this Saturday and here are some pictures. My tire was shredded, but my rim looks okay. Thenew rims were installed on Friday by Discount Tire and everything seemed fine with them. The tires were about a month old (Faulken ZE-512 245/40/17 mounted on 17x9 Bullit rims). Do you think it was a tire defect?

RE: Tire Blow Out Going 65 mph
atleastur ok. tireblowouts dont happen all the time. either there was something wrong with the tire in the first place or it wasnt put on right. hell i guess u could have hit something in the road too...tho its the back tire so thats probably not logical.

I called Discount Tire and they said they would replace the tire at a prorated amount of $35. There is melted rubber all over the rim (inside and outside) which I expected they can clean off some how.
I was a little concerned about some of the damage the tire did to the car. If you look at the 4th picture, you can see it took a plastic/rubber off a part (not sure what it is called). It also got my brake line a little (a little rubber missing in the 5th picture).

You really may want to consider changing to a different tire size since you've upgraded to a wider rim.A 245 tire w/40 sidewall is stretching it on a 9" rim. You really need to be in the 265 range.

The experts at Discount Tire said the 245/45/17 was fine on the 17 by 9 rim. I want to go to 275/40/17 on the tires when these wear out. They said the 275 may not fit well on the front. What size should I use?
