Slow top speed... or is it just me?

Slow top speed... or is it just me?
Ok I got a question...
I got a 99 Mustang GT (auto, yuck), with an H-Pipe (w/ working 02 sensors) and cat back exaust.
On the highway, right when it shifts from 3rd (I think) to OD (4th), I feel like my car dies.
Example.
I floor it, and its quick to 125~, and as soon as it shifts, its almost like it goes 125.....126.....127.... like its being held back... what gives? A 4 banger can pull ahead at these speeds.
Is this a governer problem or am I just expecting too much? I head about guys getting 150 etc but I TOP at 130~ full throttle for about 30 secconds. What do you think the problem is? (if there is one?)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i don't think you're gonna get past 130. I believe the cars are governed. When I bought my tuner, the speed limiter was one of the 1st things i turned off. Before you look to reaching 130+, i'd start modding your car. Exhaust, gears, cai, tuner (Diablo or SCT) etc. You have nothing but time on your hands and let me be the first to tell you that.

Get a tuner, it will remove the top speed governor and incresase the rev limiter. Plus it will have you saying praise for you auto (at least for straing line racing)b/c the shifts will be lighting quick much faster that a manual can shift (unless you are one bad a$$ driver).
I used to get beat by manuals before the tuner they would always pull a little ahead when my car would shift into second but with the tuner I actually pull ahead 90% of the time

as far as I know everything is stock on the car. (bought it used). I want to get a tuner but they are fairly expensive and I want to make sure that that would help out. I will look into it. Do I need to buy a tuner or do you think I can find a shop that has one to use insted (so its a lil less expensive). What tuner do u suggesT?
