Remove the shifter? Any chance you could clue me in on how to go about doing that? THanks.

I have a 01 GT with manual trans. And the car came with the original service manual. It says for the tranny use mobil 1 synthetic but does not say ATF. So, is that an assumption on the ATF?

My 00 owners manual says manual trans. takes "motorcraft mercon ATF". I'm putting Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in mine as Mobil says their synthetic ATF meets Ford's Mercon requirement. Rear axle lube the manuals calls for 80W90 gear lubricant, plus the ford friction modifier. Mobil1 makes a 75W90 synthetic gear oil. I believe that will suffice with a bottle of the modifier.
