Need help check engine light came on today!!
Today my check engine light came on and the color of the light is yellow which usually means very basic sensors that could go off. My engine has great oil pressure and does not leak or burn oil so I was guess that it might be my gas cap sensor, emission control sensor but the funny thing is that yeasterday when I was coming home from school I heard something go through my exhaust pipe which could that be a oxygen sensor I don't know but I know where I heard that sound on the road and I am thinking of going and look for it if it was that O2 sensor. Is that even possible for a O2 sensor to travel through the pipe?
Please let me know if any of you mustang enthusiasts have any ideas what might be wrong with my stang GT.

I've never heard of an O2 sensor shooting out the pipes...but it could have been one of your cats?
One of mine was loose on my X-pipe, and it ended up shooting out my exhaust pipe. I don't remember hearing anything, but it wasn't in there when I opened it up!

I was just out side tapping both pipes with a hammer and it sounds like there is something in the pipebut not for sure so I am going to pull the sensors out when I looked uder the car where are the sensors located I see the one on the left driverside but I can't find the one on the passenger side. P.S. I have true duals so there must be one on the right side. How much does it cost to take the car to autozone or advance auto?

okay found the problem with the scanner, it said my thermostat was bad on all the codes. I bought a new one for 10.00. i can't believe it after me being all upset it was a $10.00 part. Basically the thermostat said it was running beyond cold before the letter N in the word normal. The only big damage that this can cause is burn out my cats. thanks you guys so much for recommending autozone.

Well...if you heard something in the pipe...are you sure you didn't burn your cat to a little crumple? Thats what happened to mine.
Glad you got it fixed, but if you heard something in there, don't let it go unnoticed.

I took a rubber mallet to my pipes and tapped them and i did not hear anything inside the pipe. My cats do hiss sometimes becauseI think a weld is bad.
